The sale on prints has been extended to November 2nd, 2017 because I forgot to post about it on the Illmosis site and wanted to give people who only go there time to get in on the sale.

Tomorrow’s update is something that was only hinted at in last year’s DTHT preview video and barely seen in this year’s preview. Something mysterious has been happening in the woods for a quite a while. This Monday, it’s finally time to take a closer look.

edit: I messed up and put I-No in the Atlus gallery at first. Whoops. She’s now in the new Arc Systems Works gallery.

The marathon continues with the dead rising from the grave!

Custom Sprites:
Resident Evil (new gallery): Ada Wong, Albert Wesker & RE2 female zombie (Resident Evil)
Night Slashers(new gallery): Slim Zombie added. Hong Hua and Guts Zombie improved.
SNK: Pistol Zombie (Beast Busters)
movies: Graveyard Zombie (Night of the Living Dead), Francine (Dawn of the Dead)

All new custom sprites have been added to the fighter-scale image generator, and so has improved version of the graveyard background. Look, it was in yesterday’s update, but let’s pretend.

Reminder: From now until October 31st, all horror-related prints (including the new Alien vs. Predator print) in the shop are on sale! 8×10 and 8 1/2 x 11 prints are $5.00 each and 17 x 11/14 x 11 prints $8.00 each!

The horrorthon continues tomorrow on Sunday (if my internet connection doesn’t crap out all the way)!

Five days of horror begin here!

The DangerTerrorHorrorThon 2017 begins with sprites from a game that’s been requested for a long, long time. Finally, IT’S TIME TO HUNT.

All-new fighter-scale sprites of Lynn Kurosawa, Dutch Schaefer, Predator Warrior, Predator Hunter and Alien Warrior have been added to the new Aliens vs. Predator gallery. Mini-logos for Alien, Predator, and Alien vs. Predator have been added to the movie mini-logo gallery. The Alien Stalker’s standing anim and a sprite of an Alien Defender were added to the AvP game sprites gallery.

All custom sprites and mini-logos have been added to the fighter-scale image generator, along with a new AvP background based on stage 2. The “Group 384×224 w/ writing” now has the 16 x 16 AvP arcade font, too.

Finally, a new print has been added to the shop:

From now until October 31st, all horror-related prints are on sale! 8×10 and 8 1/2 x 11 prints are $5.00 each and 17 x 11/14 x 11 prints $8.00 each!

The horror continues this Saturday with an update themed around the living dead!

Friends gettin’ Spooky:

Arcade Quartermaster just dropped an update with four new coin-op shrines: Schmeiser Robo, Superior Soldiers, Dragon Master and (perfect for the season) the Real Ghostbusters!

Prince of the Iron Fist will be playing Data East’s cult-classic beat ’em up “Night Slashers” this Friday night, so tune in there if you want to see zombies get pummeled to pieces!

I was just going to drop this preview for this year’s DangerTerrorHorrorThon, but felt the need to make some slight improvements to the Friday the 13th NES hero sprites:

They’re in the Movie-related custom sprite gallery and the main GFX Generator. I added a few more colors to their palettes, leading to a better 1958 Crystal Lake uniforms.

And now, Coming Attractions.

You have two weeks to make your arrangements. Spend them wisely.

What ended as a news post title made of alphabet soup started as Marvel vs. Capcom 2017. Other titles jumped in and, well, it was a happening. You can see it unfold through the original posts:
Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday

Capcom: Morrigan, Meichelle Heart
Final Fight: Poison (Final Fight CD outfit)
Mega Man: X (Mega Man X)
Tekken (new gallery): Heihachi (three new sprites, including a scratch-made KoF sprite), Nina Williams, and King II
SNK: new CvS-ish sprites of Andy Bogard and Blue Mary from Fatal Fury, Robert Garcia from the Art of Fighting (all three are in their KoF 2000 gear) and Fio Germi from Metal Slug
Mortal Kombat: new, with remakes of the MK2 versions of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Jade and Noob Saibot
DC Comics: Black Canary (new pose), Black Manta, and Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman
GI JOE: Duke (v.1)
Rareware: Zitz and Rash

Portraits: SFA3vs portraits for Heihaichi, Wolverine, Geese Howard and Batman

Mini-logos:
Capcom: Mega Man X, Rockman X
Rare: Battletoads

As usual, all of the new sprites, portraits and logos are available to use in the GFX Generators. I’ve also added two things I didn’t have time to do during the updates. First, the game-specific generators (Darkstalkers 3, X-Men:CotA, Marvel Super Heroes and River City Ransom) have been replaced with new pages, including a new Street Fighter Alpha 3 generator, using only the characters who have SFA3 vs. portraits. I also added a new Comic 88×136 tribute type in the “fighter scale” generator: a long-overdue Street Fighter x G.I.JOE TPB logo.

Also, a new X-Men pixel art print was added to the shop

I also debuted the new name (and temporary logo) for future crossover event themes and videos. It’s…

… Crossup Beatdown! I’ll be using that name for some videos I plan to make, like this teaser I put up on YouTube. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed these updates!

What started as a Marvel vs. Capcom-themed update turned into a free-for-all crossover, causing me to add more updates with Tekken on Wednesday and SNK on Thursday. It ends tonight with Mortal Kombat and DC Comics facing off again!

And since I said tonight’s the night, that’s all for these crossover, I – – hold up, wait a minute… I can feel it now. A week of having whole universes invading my updates have sharpened my senses a little. Here comes – –

Ha! Saw you comin’ this time! It’s the last night for this theme, so just step on out now.

Oh, snap, Duke must’ve heard there was a Street Fighter crossover and wanted in again after the Street Fighter x G.I.JOE series. Rash and Zitz from Battletoads seem to be hungry for crossovers again, too, after Rash got a taste of Killer Instinct. Okay, you’re in, too. Here’s all the update details:

Custom Sprite galleries updated or added-
Mortal Kombat: new, with remakes of the MK2 versions of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Jade and Noob Saibot
DC Comics: Black Canary (new pose), Black Manta, and Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman
GI JOE: Duke (v.1)
Rareware: Zitz and Rash
portrait: SFA3 Vs. Batman portrait

All newness has been added to the main GFX Generator, where you can make your own fake screenshots, too!

Unfortunately, I can’t fit all of these names into the post title. Seeing as how this won’t be the last time this crap happens, it’s going to need a name.

Crossup Beatdown. That’ll work. From this day forward, any time this sort of crossover madness happens on this site (and it will), that’s the name I’ll use. This edition of Crossup Beatdown is over, but beware, because you never know when it’ll happen again. However, if you checked out every update as they happened, your multi-universal senses may have sharped a bit, as have mine. We’re one with many cosmoses now, and that’s a pretty cool deal if you think about it.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget that there’s a new X-Men print in the shop!

Well. I decided to make a Marvel vs. Capcom update for Tuesday, which went well until Tekken’s Heihachi Mishima decided to show up. So Wednesday’s update saw Tekken added to the crossover, with the X-Men fighting them off (and adding a new print to the shop). That was ruined by Gesse Howard lurking in the shadows at the end of that news post, and the only way to save it is to finally put some new (and long-overdue) SNK-related content on the site.

SNK: new CvS-ish sprites of Andy Bogard and Blue Mary from Fatal Fury, Robert Garcia from the Art of Fighting (all three are in their KoF 2000 gear) and Fio Germi from Metal Slug
Tekken: Heihachi gets a KoF-style sprite. Believe it or not, it’s the first KoF-style sprite I’ve ever made from scratch, and I don’t think it’ll be the last.
Final Fight: Poison (Final Fight CD outfit)
Portraits: SFA3-style Geese Howard

All of these things have been added to the main GFX Generator, where they can be used to make fake screenshots like the ones at the top of this news post.

You know what, I’m tired of this, even more than anyone who’s been following this since Tuesday. Every update this week, just when I figure I’m done with this Vs. Crossover theme, a “HERE COMES A NEW CROSSOVER” screenshot pops up and some new series or company bum rushes the show and I’ve got to do another update. Guess what? Tomorrow is the last-damn-day and if any of you lurking series out there don’t jump in now, you’re chicken pluck outta luck. I know you’re out there, so just co – –

See? That’s what I thought. Well, what game or company is it this time?

… see you tomorrow?

There was a Marvel vs. Capcom-themed update yesterday, but Heihachi crashed it at the end, forcing me to do this update with more sprites and some new portraits!

Custom Sprites:
Tekken (new gallery): Heihachi (two new sprites), Nina Williams, and King II
Marvel: Wolverine, Colossus, Cyclops

Portraits: SFA3vs portraits for Heihaichi and Wolverine

all new items were added to the main GFX Generator!

By the way, those all-new (but only Colossus is giant-sized) X-Men sprites come from a print that makes its debut today!

**cue funky Konami X-Men music**
This print is guaranteed to increase the mutant population of your wall, but not to ward off masters of magnet. You’ve gotta do that on your own! It’s available now from the ScrollBoss shop page!

Well, that’s it for this theme. I’m gonna go get some re – –

So… another update? Okay. Come back tomorrow if you want to see how ridiculous this crossover gets!

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite hits consoles and computers today, so I figured I’d pay tribute to the whole series, seeing as how the original game is one of the main things to get me into spriting fighting-scale sprites. This update features remakes of characters from the entire series!

Custom Sprites
Marvel: Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers, War Machine, Hawkeye, and Deadpool
Capcom: Morrigan, Meichelle Heart
Mega Man: X (Mega Man X)

Mini-logos:
Capcom: Mega Man X, Rockman X

All new sprites and logos have been added to the main GFX Generator!

Well, that wraps up this crossover. I hope you enjo- –

Hey, what the he – –

… looks like there’s going to be an update tomorrow, too. But is that THAT the only interloper we’re going to see tomorrow?

Happy 30th anniversary to the original Street Fighter game

New sprites of Street Fighter 1’s Geki (an often-requested sprite) and SSF4’s Juri (a few people asked for her, too) help to kick off the new Street Fighter Custom Sprites page. There isn’t a lot there yet, but I figured today would be a great day to set up the gallery. Of course, they’re also in the main image generator that I used to make the graphic at the top of the post.

No promises, but I might make a few more Street Fighter sprites to add to this update, even after the anniversary day is over.

edit (2017-09-01): Now that I’ve gotten some rest, here comes a new challenger sprite:

Always wanted to do a tribute to that Super Street Fighter II intro and this seems like a good time to do it!

I would’ve had more done, but I spent most of my free time yesterday working on one of the dozens of sprite video ideas I’ve had in my head for almost as long as I’ve had this site. I just decided it was time to stop doing the bit-by-bit work on it while chasing themes and anniversaries. Oddly enough, there will be a lot of Street Fighters in it. Here’s a sneak peek:
