You know, I think you’ve been a really good group of girls and boys this year, so I think I’ll let you open your gifts early this time. No corduroy pants and hats this year, it’s all toys!

Toys and Cartoons: Teela, Beast Man, Panthro, Rom: Spaceknight, Megatron, Kimber Benton
G.I. JOE: Snake-Eyes (figure 1), Cobra Commander, Destro, Cobra Trooper
DC Comics: Supergirl, Martian Manhunter (the sprite seen in the JLA pixel art poster)
Marvel Comics: Doctor Doom (Secret Wars ’84 outfit)

All those sprites are also in the new, main GFX Generator, along with two new toy card tributes and a new MotU font:

As always, many of the sprites, especially the Cobra Trooper, have extra palettes in the GFX Generator that aren’t seen in the main custom sprite galleires. After all, there’s no such thing as having too many Cobra Troopers!

(edit)
Elsewhere…

Arcade Quartermaster is getting 2017 started early with a group of new shrines: Star Wars arcade (hey, Star Wars toys are also a favorite), Outfoxies, Narc and Outrun!

Thanks for the stopping by and I hope you have a good time, no matter which holidays you celebrate!

Hey, look, it’s a sprite of Doctor Strange! Why, his movie just came out this week! That sprite is based on his Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 fight stance and everything! Even converted two of his classics logos into mini-logos! They’ve been added to the new GFX Generator, which is still one surfer short of an old-school Defenders line-up! That’s all I’ve got this time!

Sorry, I’m still dry as **** after the DangerTerrorHorrorThon, which wasn’t even a week ago. Don’t worry, I’m going to re-hydrate with two bottles of Arizona Iced Tea this weekend before getting back into the game.

edit 2016-11-05: Already drank one bottle of Arizona, so I’ve got enough power to make some fixes to the Doctor Strange sprite, along with making a more comic-accurate version.

DangerTerrorHorrorThon 2016 pt. 6 – the Final Chapter!

Custom Sprites
Marvel:Blade
Other Games: Bayonetta
Data East: Zombie from Night Slashers
TecmoPumpkin Head (Ninja Gaiden)
Movies: The Shape/Michael Myers, Laurie Strode, Jill Franco
Illmosis: Hazelle (my witchy Halloween mascot returns from limbo!)

Mini-logos
Movies: Blade
Movies: Bayonetta

All new sprites and mini-logos have been added to the GFX Generator, where you can make your own screens and graphics. Blade (and the 144×160 I made from scratch) are also in the separate Darkstalker 3 and Marvel Super Heroes vs screen makers

That’s all (more like “that’s enough”) for the DangerTerrorHorrorThon for this year. Happy Halloween!

previous parts of the DTHT: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5

Here’s today’s batch of newness:

Custom Sprites
Movies: El/Eleven from Stranger Things, Trash from the Return of the Living Dead and Frank Stewart from the WNUF Halloween Special. Yes, I know Stranger Things isn’t a movie, but it’s on that page for now.
Castlevania: Richter Belmont (original outfit)
Vanillaware: Sorceress (resprited and MUCH better)
Other Games: Julie (Zombies Ate My Neighbors) in her select screen pose
Marvel: Ghost Rider in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 stance

Mini-logos
– Movies: the Return of the Living Dead, Frank Stewart
– Television: Stranger Things
– Vanillaware (new!): Vanillaware and Dragon’s Crown logo

All of the new sprites and mini-logos were added to the new GFX Generator, which you can use to make pics like the one near the top of this post. I also added a “horror” character list so you can easily find horror characters to build your own nightmares.

The madness continues tomorrow with even more sprites!

“We’ll be right back.”

Celebrating the debut of Marvel’s new Luke Cage series on Netflix by adding new sprites of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Misty Knight, and…

Dammit, it ain’t about you today, Johnny! Anyway, all sprites are in the Marvel and Midway Custom Sprite sections, new minilogos and all of that has been added to the the fighter-size GFX Generator!

The first anniversary update was all gaming characters, but now it’s time give a few comic and toy license characters some love!

Custom Sprites:
DC Comics: Black Canary (an early version was seen in the site promo videos)
Marvel Comics: a new Wasp sprite. Don’t worry, I’ll make more outfits for her later!
TMNT: Shredder (same pose as the 2013 sprite, but redrawn & resprited to look much better)
G.I.JOE: Snake-Eyes and Scarlett. BTW: an early version of Scarlett’s sprite was in the unannounced new banner displayed only on July 4th this year.

All sprites were added to the aforementioned GFX Generators (the old GroupShot and Vs generators). Wasp’s new sprite has slightly different colors than her 2011-2012 sprites, but I remade all her old palettes, because Jan’s gotta switch things up. Snake-Eyes’ new sprite also has multiple palettes.

Also: that Chun-Li pic I drew last month is now in the prints section of the site’s Shop page!

So we saw video game heroes yesterday and 80s nostalgia today, but things take a turn for the sinister tomorrow with an all-villain update!

Thanks the SDCC exclusive NECA figure sets for Konami-style Ninja Turtles, the new TMNT game developed by Platinum and the X-Men getting a new movie, it’s a pretty good time to be a mutant. That’s why this update is happening!

Custom Sprites:
TMNT – new sprites of all four turtles, an improved version of the Foot Soldier sprite from a few weeks ago and a new pose.
Marvel – improved versions of the Storm and Dazzler from the FCBD update and plus a new outfit for each in that same pose.

All new pixel art has been added to the GFX Generators. The Foot Soldier’s palette has been reworked so that the ’80s toy palette fits in, so it’s all one sprite now. You’ll also find a nice new screenstyle in the Group Maker generator.

Saturday is Free Comic Book Day and it’ll be a good time to support your local comic book shop! Remember: they have to pay for the free books you get, so please consider buying a few comics, too! I’ll be spending my FCBD at the Warren, Ohio location of All-American Comics (Facebook, GoogleMaps) selling prints, giving out free coloring pages and, really, just hanging out. This site is celebrating FCBD by throwing a lot of comic book sprites at you (and this site is free, too)!

Custom Sprites
Marvel Comics: Dazzler, Iron Man (Silver Centurion), She-Hulk and Storm
DC Comics: Aquaman, Bizarro (Silver Age), GL John Stewart, Plastic Man (celebrating his 75th anniversary this week), and Ultraman. Additions were made to the Superman Battle Hover (a.k.a. the Taito pose) gallery.
TMNT: Foot Soldier (Konami/cartoon and toy variants)

Mini-Logos
DC Comics: Crime Syndicate, Plastic Man
Marvel Comics: Dazzler

the new items were added to the V.1 Vs. and Group GFX Generators.

Story time: Ssomeone on Twitter posts a link to a Comics Alliance story about the five best Lex Luthor stories and I read it, partially because I’ll be making new Lex Luthor sprites this year. It was a good article, so I figured I’d check the sidebar for other recent stories. So imagine my surprise when I saw a link to this:

Comics Alliance’s Chris Sims posted a story about the Superman Taito pose sprites I’ve been making. Including a short story about the first time he saw the arcade game and how fans (myself included) kept wondering about a certain palette swap from the game. That game was special for a lot of comic book and video game fans of the 1980s, especially when we heard that John Williams Superman theme cut through the other sounds bouncing off the walls of the arcade. Thanks, Mr. Sims!

I’m still working on a commission, but I had time here and there to get some pixel work done. Check it out!

Custom Sprites: DC (Amanda Waller), Marvel (new scratch-made Black Panther, in a pose similar to the old sprite edit), Video System Co. (Glen from Karate Blazers)
Logos: Karate Blazers (ripped from tiles for accuracy with the black pixels)
Mini-Logos: DC (Amanda Waller), Marvel (Jean Grey), Video System Co. (Video System, Karate Blazers)

All applicable newness has been added to the GFX Generators.

I always feel like I’ve done a good job on a sprite if WizzyWhipitWonderful picks it to display during those CPS-2-style music tracks and this is no exception. Check out this new hype track done by WizzyWhipitWonderful (composed by Antoine Pickens of LiveWire Productions):

Be sure to subscribe to WWW’s YouTube channel for continued exposure to that sweet, sweet CPS-2 audio flavor!

My commission work should be finished some time in March (at the latest), so expect the next batch of newness then.

Here’s everything from the Avengers Assemble updates:

Custom Sprites
Marvel: Absorbing Man (normal and iron), Ant-Man, Black Widow (two poses), the Falcon, the Hulk (classic savage), Iron Man (1st armor, 2nd armor and Hulkbuster v.1), Moonstone, Ms. Marvel (Danvers), Nebula, the Red Skull, Scarlet Witch, Thor, Titania, Ultron, the Wizard, Wonder Man (two outfits)
Capcom: Black Widow (from Slam Masters)
Superman Battle Hover pose: Wonderman (TV Funhouse)

Mini-Logos
Marvel: Absorbing Man, Moonstone, Nebula, Titania, Ultron, Wonder Man, Wonder Man (TV Funhouse). Added today: Iron Man (ToS 39), Wizard
Capcom: Black Widow – Ring of Destruction signature (added today)
Television (new page): Wonderman (TV Funhouse)

Those custom sprites and mini-logos were added to the GFX Generators that use fighting game sprites.

Sprites – also added a few in-game items to the Captain America and the Avengers page.

That’s all the Avengers-related stuff I’ve posted in the past week to celebrate the new movie… that I still haven’t seen yet. There will be a small Mother’s Day update this weekend as the site goes back to doing game-related content!

Anyone in the mood for some 2-D avenging should check out the Avengers: United Battle Force game built on the OpenBoR engine. O Ilusionista crafted this mod with more Marvel goodness than you’d think was possible in a fan game.

Believe it or not, I had a brief cameo on local TV during the Free Comic Book Day event at All American Comics in Warren, Ohio and I was working on the line art for Absorbing Man, Titania and a few other sprites. Just look for the guy in the gray hat squinting at a piece of paper at around the :35 mark (though I show up a bit earlier than that).

I honestly didn’t know they were filming me until I looked up as the cameraman was about to leave. TOTAL CONCENTRATION.
