“This year, Halloween feel on a weekend… me and Geto Boys are trick or treatin’…”
custom sprites:
– Music: Bushwick Bill (who unfortunately passed away in 2019) from the Geto Boys’ “Mind Playing Tricks on Me” video
– Night Slashers: knife-carrying killers
And now, for the last treat: the first ever DangerTerrorHorrorThon video clip show! You’ll see some new sprite showcase displays along with some new and old video scenes. Enjoy the show and have a happy Halloween!
In 2006, a small town arcade was forced to close due to machinations of opportunistic politicians and preachers. The arcade’s owner was run out of town and the cabinets, mostly horror games, were ordered to be destroyed in a public ceremony. One of the former employees, Amelia, refused to let this happen. Rallying a crew of fellow misfits, she liberated the coin-op machines, evaded the local police through multiple states until reaching the one place outside the reach of the law: infamous Alexandria Mall.
The legend of the Alexandria Mall is too long to repeat here, but ask any witness of the midnight skirmish that caused the building to be burned to the ground only to reappear the next morning will tell you how that was only the beginning of the weirdness. Amelia used the doomed machines to start “The Arcade of the Damned,” and began to hunt down additional coin-op games with far more sinister histories.
Custom Sprites
– Illmosis/ScrollBoss: Amelia
– Castlevania: Elizabeth Bartley (Bloodlines)

The horrorthon continues tomorrow on Sunday (if my internet connection doesn’t crap out all the way)!
All new sprites and mini-logos have been added to the GFX Generator, where you can make your own screens and graphics. Blade (and the 144×160 I made from scratch) are also in the separate Darkstalker 3 and Marvel Super Heroes vs screen makers
That’s all (more like “that’s enough”) for the DangerTerrorHorrorThon for this year. Happy Halloween!
Did you think you’d have to wait until Sunday night to get your zombie fix? Never fear (unless we tell you to do so), because we’re here for you.

Happy Halloween! This is the 25th anniversary year for both Altered Beast and Splatterhouse, this year’s monster/horror update will focus more on those two series.
GFX Generator update –
– New characters: Jennifer and Splatterhouse enemies (Master Dead and Pumpkin King) for Namco, Altered Beast enemies for Sega, Ptolemy for Taito, Sorceress (Dragon’s Crown) for Vanillaware (Other Games), Skeletor for Toons & Toys
– Updated characters: Neff (Rhino form)for Sega. All Darkstalker’s Revenge characters have their Select/Vs. portraits from that game.
Sprites – Night Slashers finally gets a gallery with a few sprites and animations.
Custom Sprites – Jennifer, Master Dead and Pumpkin King added to Namco page. Neff (Rhino) and Headless Horror added to Sega. Sorceress added to Vanillaware page. Ptolemy added to Taito. Skeletor added to Toys & Cartoons.
Of course, other game fan sites are celebrating Halloween, too. Here’s a few other places you should check out:
VGJunk has a fresh page all about Splatterhouse 2 for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Games-in-Bits has an excellent feature on some creepy urban legends in video games, including the first video game character to kill actual people. Arcade Quartermaster also added a Splatterhouse shrine along with one for House of the Dead! It’s a creature double feature of foreboding abodes, so check it out!
This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Konami’s Castlevania hitting U.S. shores and invading unsuspecting NES systems around the country. With that in mind, this pre-Halloween update is really heavy with Dracula’s minions along with a Belmont to destroy them. Non-Castlevania fans still have some things to look forward to as other horror and monster-related sprites and things haunt this update.
GFX Generators – The following creatures and creature-fighters have been added to the mix:
Capcom: Anita (new!)
Jaleco: Avenging Spirit (new!)
Konami: Richter Belmont (new!), Medusa Head (new!), Castlevania creatures (Ghosts, Hunchback, Zombie)
Namco: Rick Taylor (now with palettes, including Mirror Rick and Wanpaku Graffiti), Biggy Man (new!)
Sega: Neff (new!)
An expanded version of my scratch-made Castlevania cover art recreation was added to the 384×224 Create-a-Scene screenstyles. You probably figured that out from the main screenshot, though. More Darkstalker backgrounds were added to those, too.
