All that newness is also in the main GFX Generator, where you can make screenshots just like the one at the top of this post!
It’s been a while since I uploaded a video, so I put another short clip compilation, but finally with the real ScrollBoss theme (for better or for worse, that’s up to you).

Yesterday’s Illmosis.net update featured full color art of Endless Duck, a character who has popped up on this site ever since his original appearance in a Minus World section page. No picture of Endless Duck since the original Silver Surfer gag pic really ever seemed right to me until this one. Guess that means I’ve run out of excuses to do more with him, hunh? Also, I finished a pic of Princess Toadstool a while back and that will be added to the shop’s print section after I get a test print. I’ve also got new pics of Wonder Woman, Spider-Man Miles Morales and Zoom (CW Flash version). Between doing those and working on commission sprites (and you’ll see some of those soon), I’ve been busy. Oh, I almost forgot…
… the Masters of the Universe print I made for the Gallery1988 official Mattel art show! Curator (and creator of some of the cutest art you’ll ever see) Cuddly Rigor Mortis put a great show together, so be sure to browse that site’s gallery if you’re a fan of MotU (and She-Ra), Barbie, Street Sharks, Monster High and other Mattel joints. Even the classic electronic sports handhelds got some love! Unfortunately, my print was sold out (I couldn’t get a lot of prints made at the time of the deadline), but, thanks to the help of friend and talking with the curator, there’ll be news on that later on.
I’ll be at the All Americon convention in Youngstown, Ohio, but only on Saturday, July 8th. All AmeriCon is a two-day event this year, but circumstances (and day-job work) means that I can only make it there on Saturday. Also, while I won’t have a lot of the 17 x 11 pixel art prints, I’ve got the 10 x 8 pics seen in this site’s shop and some small mini-prints you haven’t seen yet. I know of at least one seller of old video games will be there and other people in Artist’s Alley will have video game-themed stuff, so don’t feel that you’ve got to be a comic fan to have fun there!
We’re 12 days away from the 17th anniversary of this site, but I’m going to warn you ahead of time that it won’t be as big as last year’s blow-out. I’ve been working almost non-stop on either commissions (most of it) or line art (just a bit) since February and I haven’t had a lot of extra time to work on the site. I still plan to make it worth your while to stop in on July 19th, so don’t forget to come back around that time to join in the fun!
Sometimes it feels like the forces of evil are growing in number and gathering strength. This update… probably won’t help to fight that feeling.
Golden Axe: New Heninger and improved Longmoan Streets of Rage: New Donovan (SoR2) and improved Galsia (SoR1 and 2) Strider: completely redone Ton Pooh, Sai Pooh and Pei Pooh sprites. Kung-Fu Master: Gripper and Tom Tom
All of the new sprites have been added to the main GFX Generator, the image generator I used to make the screenshot at the top of this post!
Things will be be a bit slow while I continue to work on commissions and new line art for new prints. Prints are still on sale (my Illmosis site has more than game-related prints), but the sale will end next week. If you see something you like and have the money, pick it up while you can!
The All-AmeriCon convention hits Youngstown, Ohio’s Covelli Centre on July 8th and 9th! The special guest list is ridiculously solid (I based that Iron Man Hall of Armor background on the version that Bob Layton drew) and I’ll be in Artist’s Alley there! Come through, as I’ll be selling prints (including some small pixel art prints), sketching line art for sprites and I’ll have previews of pixel art that isn’t on the site yet
I was too busy for Wonder Woman Day a while back, so I’m making up for it today. Wonder Woman’s character slot in the GFX Generators now has a new mini-logo (early 90s version) and a new portrait made from a picture that I haven’t finished inking yet. I know I usually use (and credit) preexisting art for the MSH and CotA portraits, but They’re available as part of her character in the main GFX Generator and the separate MSH Vs. and X-Men: CotA Vs. generators.
A new sprite of Star-Lord (in his Annihilators-era uniform and snazzy helmet) has been added to the Marvel Comics sprite gallery. Star-Lord (again, Annihilators-era) and Guardians of the Galaxy both get a mini-logo added to the Marvel gallery. The sprite and logos have been added to the GFX Generators!
I’ll have a small set-up at All American Comics in Warren, OH (check ’em out on Facebook and Yelp) this Saturday for the Free Comic Book Day event. I’ll have some prints (not everything, still need to restock) with me and they’ll be at the sale prices I’m using on the site now, so you won’t even have to pay shipping if you can make it there. All American is a great shop that I’ve bought from for decades now, so check ’em out if you can make it to the NE Ohio area!
I’m still working on those pixel art commissions, with 9/16 of one batch done, 2/10 of another done and another single sprite to do, so the content train will be kinda light for a while. Sorry for the low content, but this site will be more active again probably around late May. Don’t worry, more new sprites (and more) are coming!
Custom Sprites
– Final Fight: Cody’s 2016 sprites have been improved and I’ve made a sprite in the classic arcade flyer art pose
– Nintendo: Lady (Donkey Kong), mostly based on Yoichi Kotabe’s artwork
– Golden Axe: Lt., Col. and Gen. Bitter
– Capcom: Rouge (Power Stone)
– Marvel Comics: Moon Knight (classic outfit)
– River City Ransom: NES-style sprites of Egg Shen (Big Trouble in Little China)
Things have gotten rough again IRL, so print sale prices and pixel art commissions are back again!
Print sale prices: 8×10 and 8×11 prints are $5.00 each, 11 x 17 prints $8.00 each!
Game-related prints can be found on the Shop Page. If you’re looking for something other than game-related pics, please check out the Prints page on my Illmosis site for a bigger selection!
Beating River City Ransom: Underground this week kept me in the mood for spriting more characters in the original NES game’s style. I’m still trying to find a balance between sticking in that original game’s look and trying more unique things like RCR:U did. Today’s batch features do-overs for sprites I’d edited from RCR sprites years ago (the Lee Bros. and some Street Fighter stalwarts), other teenage characters (including five with attitude), a few clownish characters (including my own character, Nutroll) and one man who will pity these fools.
also, one character that I thought I’d done for the Megaman NES style finally gets his turn:
You can now have such a thing as Thunderball Fists!
The Mega Man NES Boss Intro and Boss select screens now work in the new GFX Generator engine, and the Fakeshot (8-bit) generator has been update to use the v.2 versions, including the Shops from the separate River City Ransom Shop generator that was upgraded last week. New Mega Man-stype edits: Hawkwoman/Hawkgirl (DC Comics), Dr. Octopus (Marvel Comics), Doctor Emmitt Brown (Back to the Future) and Doctor Detroit.
The River City Ransom Shop generator was updated, too! Two new shops have been added: Good Burger, Daddy Green’s Pizza. New sprites include Ed (Good Burger), Lester Oakes (dissatisfied Good Burger customer), Daddy Green (the Last Dragon), the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (they heard a new pizza place was available!), Paul (River City Ransom: Underground), Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers, Batsu and Hinata (Rival Schools).
That’s not all! X-Men: CotA portraits of Jubilee and Gambit (made from Jim Lee art) have been added to the X-Men:CotA and main image generators!
Also: the part of the GFX Generator where you enter text now has a border for each entry and description so you’ll know exactly what’s what. Well, in the generator, not life itself.
Also: I’ve got FOUR commission slots open! Check out the Illmosis.net commissions page for all the details on how you can get me to make a sprite or two for you!
There will be another small update in a few days, mainly adding the Mega Man NES screens to the new generator engine. Mega Man content is still a good way to get attention, isn’t it? I’m allowed to say that out loud, right?
