Just in time for his debut in Smash, an all-new sprite in CvS-ish of Kazuya Mishima has been added to the Tekken custom sprite gallery and the image generators!

The 21st anniversary of the ScrollBoss site’s birth is on July 19th, 2021, and I’m working on new sprites (and more) for the anniversary update!

Well. I decided to make a Marvel vs. Capcom update for Tuesday, which went well until Tekken’s Heihachi Mishima decided to show up. So Wednesday’s update saw Tekken added to the crossover, with the X-Men fighting them off (and adding a new print to the shop). That was ruined by Gesse Howard lurking in the shadows at the end of that news post, and the only way to save it is to finally put some new (and long-overdue) SNK-related content on the site.

SNK: new CvS-ish sprites of Andy Bogard and Blue Mary from Fatal Fury, Robert Garcia from the Art of Fighting (all three are in their KoF 2000 gear) and Fio Germi from Metal Slug
Tekken: Heihachi gets a KoF-style sprite. Believe it or not, it’s the first KoF-style sprite I’ve ever made from scratch, and I don’t think it’ll be the last.
Final Fight: Poison (Final Fight CD outfit)
Portraits: SFA3-style Geese Howard

All of these things have been added to the main GFX Generator, where they can be used to make fake screenshots like the ones at the top of this news post.

You know what, I’m tired of this, even more than anyone who’s been following this since Tuesday. Every update this week, just when I figure I’m done with this Vs. Crossover theme, a “HERE COMES A NEW CROSSOVER” screenshot pops up and some new series or company bum rushes the show and I’ve got to do another update. Guess what? Tomorrow is the last-damn-day and if any of you lurking series out there don’t jump in now, you’re chicken pluck outta luck. I know you’re out there, so just co – –

See? That’s what I thought. Well, what game or company is it this time?

… see you tomorrow?

There was a Marvel vs. Capcom-themed update yesterday, but Heihachi crashed it at the end, forcing me to do this update with more sprites and some new portraits!

Custom Sprites:
Tekken (new gallery): Heihachi (two new sprites), Nina Williams, and King II
Marvel: Wolverine, Colossus, Cyclops

Portraits: SFA3vs portraits for Heihaichi and Wolverine

all new items were added to the main GFX Generator!

By the way, those all-new (but only Colossus is giant-sized) X-Men sprites come from a print that makes its debut today!

**cue funky Konami X-Men music**
This print is guaranteed to increase the mutant population of your wall, but not to ward off masters of magnet. You’ve gotta do that on your own! It’s available now from the ScrollBoss shop page!

Well, that’s it for this theme. I’m gonna go get some re – –

So… another update? Okay. Come back tomorrow if you want to see how ridiculous this crossover gets!

Graphic Generators – I just made a small character update.
Capcom: Ibuki added. Poison (new SF3-to-SFA-like edits and a new palette), Ryu (SFA3 portrait headband edit) updated.
Namco: Nina, Kazuya and Yoshimitsu make a invasion with new scratch-made sprites.
Taito: Dolls from Growl/Runark are now one sprite with multiple palettes (three arcade, three Genesis/Mega Drive)

Mini-Logos – A Street Fighter IV-styled Street Fighter logo added to Capcom section. 70’s and late 80’s Avengers logos added to Marvel section. Illmosis and ScrollBoss logos added to Illmosis section.

Custom Sprites – Scratch-made sprites of Nina (Tekken 5), Kazuya (1, 2 & 5) and Yoshimitsu (2 & 3) were added to the Namco page.

edit: I also re-sized the scratch-made sprites of the Dolls from Growl because I didn’t notice that they were too tall.

Dynamo just posted a breakdown of his five favorite BGM tracks from TMNT IV and it’s worth a read. The man is uniquely qualified to make these posts since he thinks about games on a nuts and bolts level AND he crafts some fine music himself. He also makes a reference to one of my favorite musicians in the description of the #1 track. Look that name up on YouTube if you don’t recognize it when you get to it. You’ll be glad you did.
